Floor joists, bridging and decking help build a strong foundation, and will keep a new home standing for many years to come. These common construction practices took on a whole new meaning for a group of D.S. Brown employees that recently pitched in for a Habitat for Humanity build in Wayne, Ohio.
DSB Team members Doug Trenkamp, Pam Allison, Andrew Baker, Eric Johnson, Chris Youngless, Chris Hohenberger, Jon Longworth, Tyrone Morman, Ed Leeper, James Boney, Delbert Smith and Auston Poore worked on the floor portion of the home build project with the local Habitat for Humanity chapter of Wood County, Ohio. D.S. Brown’s main facility is located nearby in North Baltimore, Ohio.
Once completed, the structure will welcome a single mother and her five children into their new forever home.
Ahead of the team’s volunteer efforts, D.S. Brown’s VP/General Manager Scott Jenkins also presented a monetary donation to Habitat For Humanity of Wood County’s Executive Director Mark Ohashi.
Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 and operates in more than 70 countries. Habitat has helped more than 35 million people worldwide construct, rehabilitate, or preserve homes since its founding. As of 2013, Habitat is the largest not-for-profit builder in the world.
